Biased Judges in SYTYCD

June 30th, 2009

Well, It is about that time again, So You Think You Can Dance will soon be gracing our TV’s and thoughts. While I look forward to the show every season, I can’t help but to be skeptical of the integrity for this next season. I clearly remember last season at the end of Hollywood week, Nigel telling one of the contestants she is amazing but doesn’t have the personality and to come back next year when she has developed more of one. I was dumbfounded when I heard him say that and was immediately torn as to what to do or think about it. I think a lot of other people felt the same way.

I do realize having a personality is a bonus, but last time I checked my reasons for watching the show, it was to watch the amazing art and talent of the dancers. Not to listen to them tell jokes or be a ham. In all reality, professional dancers aren’t up on stage talking and telling jokes, they dance and then disappear. For example, Celine Dion’s show. If Benji would have accepted the contract to perform in her show, he would be solely a dancer. When the song is over I highly doubt he would get on the microphone and start talking to the audience, therefor he really wouldn’t need much of a personality… So tell me, why is it that they need to be stellar “popular kids” to qualify for SYTYCD when they have crazy amazing talent?

I do see the proof is in the pudding when it comes to the dancers who have won the show, they have all been amazing personalities. However, that doesn’t give any right to the judges or producers to use that as a measuring stick. Their job is dance expertise, and should keep it to that and let us make the decision with the incredible dancers they accept. Reality shows already get heat for “fixing” or scripting shows and so forth, so why bring even more scepticism to a show. Viewers want to feel good about watching a show, not feel guilty because the judging has been fixed or is implementing new guidelines out of nowhere and their own personal opinions. Depending on the future judging of the show, I think more and more of the audience is going to be discouraged to watch. As far as I am concerned, the judges and producers only responsibility is putting through the most incredible, talented dancers and then let the audience decide out of them who deserves to go on. If the judging is going to regularly be looking at their personalities, they may want to consider changing the name of the show to “So You Think You Can Schmooze and Dance.

How to Choose a Good Wedding Photographer

June 25th, 2009

The wedding day will probably be one of the most important times that occur for a person’s life. Countless hours go into wedding planning. All of the tasks that go into wedding planning can be time consuming, stressful and very frustrating at times. That is why it is so important to do some homework and find the right people for all of the jobs. One of the very big jobs will be that of the photographer. From my experience as a San Diego wedding photographer I’ll show you it can be a few simple steps away.

Finding a wedding photographer is a big job. There are a few important factors to think about when you make this important decision. The photographs that you get from your wedding day will be some of the most memorable moments that you. The photos will be all over your walls for the rest of yourlife. One of the most obvious factors when choosing any photographer is price. Many photographers will charge a price for a certain length of time at the wedding. It is important to know up front what all is included with that
price. When it comes to finding a wedding photographer, the biggest upside to pricing is there is a lot of competition. Don’t forget, a lot of photographers will negotiate their price to fit what you need.

Another thing to take into account when deciding is how much experience does this person have. Is this their first wedding job, or have they done a few? Their price might be an indication of how many years they have been in business as well. Now just because someone may have a lot of experience doesn’t guarantee they will be better. Sometimes those people that are just starting out and trying to build a name for themselves will turn out to be excellent. The advantage of a person like that and going with them is you know they are going to give it their best. When looking for a wedding photographer, you will find people with varying levels of experience. Doing an interview with a photographer can give you a good sense of what they will be like to work with.
